Bart Temmerman, 37, holds an MBA from Vlerick Management School and a Masters of Business and Technology at the Solvay Business School-VUB.
He began his career at Arthur Andersen, focusing on media and entertainment. Bart joined Proximus (Vodafone affiliate) in 1998 as Mobile Data Strategy Manager and later on New Business Development Manager. Bart assumed responsabilities in the areas of 3G auctioning, mobile TV and mobile commerce. In 2003, Bart was involved in the set-up of Marmont Film Financing, Belgium's first to focus on tax-shelter financing. In 2005, Bart joined Belgacom Group, the Belgian incumbent telco as Head of Strategic Development, and worked on merger and acquisition files in the domain of mobile broadband and new media. Late 2006, Bart became manager of the Cross-Media Applications team within Alcatel-Lucent's Multimedia Ventures unit, to focus on building white-label services for telco's and content providers.
As from January 2009, Bart heads Cultuurnet Vlaanderen (Brussels). At the request of the Flemish authorities, this social profit company gives (more) people (more) appetite for (more) culture. CultuurNet Vlaanderen runs the most complete cultural and leasure event database in Flanders & Brussels, which powers the award-winning website UiTinVlaanderen.be and another 270 other media channels, and specialises in providing B2B marketing services. The UiTnetwerk includes partnerships with 158 cities, while UiTmetVlieg.be and associated campaigns reflect targets families with children. CultuurNet Vlaanderen will be pioneering state-of-the-art cultural loyalty schemes and personalised real-time recommendations services, with the support of several innovation programmes. In addition, as one of the partners behind the new EU Grundtvig learning programme “Extending the margins”, CultuurNet Vlaanderen will offer training related to technology as a source of new perspectives in promoting cultural participation among hard to reach audiences.
