Yoshinori Sato chairs the eCulture Working Group of APAN (Asia-Pacific Advanced Network; http://apan.net). The eCulture WG started in July 2004 and so far have had 9 meetings with more than 70 presentations from 10 countries. The mission of eCulture WG is to make the research and education more active in Asia-Pacific region through applyingICT to all disciplines including Humanities and Social Sciences, and to provide the fruitful outcome to the societies at large.
He received Ph. D from the University of Library and Information Science in 2003. After having been experienced in both library practice and research, appointed at Tohoku Gakuin University as Professor of library and information science. He also serves as Guest Professor in National Institute for Informatics and Mie University. His current interests nclude scholarly communication and publishing, and preservation of and acess to ultural/historical information. He and his colleague launched "the Historic Roads GIS" (http://culgeo.i-portal.mie-u.ac.jp/index-eng.html), the portal for historic places in Mie rea, and continuously make efforts for improvement.
